●Seizanryokusui (Green Mountains and Water)…the season of fresh green leaves. This is the season in the year when you can feel the sparkle of life the most, and it represents harmony with the heavens, earth, and all things in the universe.
Blue mountains, green water. A magnificent natural scene.
● Mountain is mountain, water is water (yama wa kore yama mizu wa kore mizu)… Mountain is complete as mountain, water is complete as water. Each thing lives in its own right and fully expresses its existence as it is.
●Lush green water plants on the surface of the water...Beautiful, lush aquatic plants. Even in this fleeting world, the breath of early summer shines through, and the beauty remains unchanged.
●A fresh wind blows through the bamboo forest (sei fu uchikurin ari)...A fresh wind blows equally over everyone and everything.
In other words, a pure wind blows through the bamboo forest. The bamboo forest has a deep, pure atmosphere that seems to sweep away the worldly thoughts of people.
This is an abbreviated version of a poem written by Zen Master Kido Chigu when seeing off a departing disciple.
