Senshibaan Shigetsu Born in Karatsu in 1942. Learned pottery making in Arita and Karatsu ware. Adopted by Hatano Eizo of Hagi in 1968 and began pottery making in Hagi. 1972. Governor's Award at Yamaguchi Prefectural Art Exhibition. 1973. Selected for Nitten Exhibition. Selected for 50 consecutive years from then on. 1977. Selected for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition. Selected for 1988. Continued. 1986. Received the Excellence Award at the Tea Ceremony Art Exhibition at Tabe Museum. 1987. Received the Yamaguchi Prefectural Arts and Culture Promotion Encouragement Award. 2002. Certified as a guardian of an intangible cultural property designated by Yamaguchi Prefecture. Full member of the Japan Crafts Association. Held numerous solo exhibitions at Kuroda Touen in Tokyo, Nihonbashi Takashimaya, Osaka Daimaru, Kyoto Takashimaya, etc.
