●A crouching flower vase is so named because it looks like a person crouching.
Originally, these jars were used by farmers to store rice seeds, but tea masters used them as flower vases.

[(real name Shigeru)], a member of the Sanki Koshu family. Born in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture in 1950. The third son of Nishio Hikoshiro (real name Miyoji). Graduated from Shigaraki High School in 1969. Studied under Tezuka Akira in Kyoto in 1969. Made tea ware in Shigaraki as part of the family business in 1973. Became independent in Shigaraki in 1983.
