Born in Tokyo in 1935. 1968: Built an anagama kiln in the mountains of Shigaraki, and began producing Shigaraki tea pottery. 1974: Received instruction from Daiki Tachibana Roshi of Daitokuji Temple, where he continues to this day. Created reliefs and participated in the Okinawa Ocean Expo. Started researching and producing Iga tea pottery. 1979: Held a solo exhibition at Nyoian, Daitokuji Temple. Also held a solo exhibition at Urasenke. Started researching and producing black tea bowls in the style of Chojiro, and red tea bowls in the style of Koetsu. Started researching Korean items, Ido tea bowls, and Kohiki tea bowls. Announced the production of Iga tea pottery. 1988: Exhibited at the Shigaraki exhibition at the Kosetsu Museum of Art. 1991: First solo exhibition in America at Gallery Zero, Rockefeller Center, NY. 1992: Works added to the collections of Kitcho and Yuki Museum of Art (Osaka). 1993: First solo exhibition in Germany at Munich Gallery Fred Hahn Studio. 1994: Works added to the collections of the Yale University Art Museum. 2011: Exhibition at Nomura Museum of Art. 2013: Held an exhibition at the Nomura Museum of Art (Kyoto) in 2014. Received the posthumous Buddhist name Genkaku Sadamitsu from His Holiness Kobori Taigen, head of the Rinzai sect (Kenninji school). He has held numerous solo exhibitions and presented his works to this day.
