The eldest son of the previous owner, Nishio Hikoshiro. Born in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture in 1950. Studied under Tezuka Akira in Kyoto in 1969. Began making tea pottery in Shigaraki in 1973. Became independent in Shigaraki in 1983.
