The founder lived in Nishimura, Saikyo, Nara, so he took the surname Nishimura and produced clay braziers.
When the third generation received orders from Kobori Enshu, he received the bronze seal of "Souzen" and stamped his name on his works.
However, the seal was lost in the Tenmei fire.
Later, Tendai attempted to revive the business with the help of the three Sen families, and it is believed that it was around this time that he began to frequent the Sen family.
During his 11th year, he was invited to the garden kiln opening of the Nishihama Palace, the villa of the 10th feudal lord of the Kishu domain, Tokugawa Harutaka, where he was awarded the gold seal of "Kahinsiryu" and the silver seal of "Eiraku" in recognition of his work.
From then on, he began to stamp his works with the name Eiraku.
When the 12th generation took over the family name, he changed his surname to Eiraku and began making tea bowls in addition to clay braziers.
