Born in Kyoto in 1977 as the eldest son of Gensui Nakamura.
In 1993, he received training at Jukoin Temple in Daitokuji.
In 2000, he studied under his father, the first-generation Gensui, and is currently studying pottery making using traditional techniques.
In 2005, the second Nakamura Gensui inherited the business.
In 2006, he held his first solo exhibition at the Takashimaya Kyoto store's art salon.

In 1975, Yoshihisa Nakamura opened a kiln near Tofukuji Temple.
In 1994, he was appointed as Gensui by Kankai of Jukoin Temple.
