Artist: 15th generation Shinbei Sakakura (Fukagawa Main Kiln)
----------
[15th generation (real name Masaharu)]
Born in 1949
In 1974, after graduating from the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School with a major in ceramics, I gave up on my plans to study abroad in the US or Europe and returned home because my father was in poor health. At the time, my father was in and out of the hospital, and the period I learned from him was short, only about six months, so it didn't feel like I was studying under him.
In 1978, he took on the name of the 15th generation Sakakura Shinbei.
Received the NHK Yamaguchi Broadcasting Station Award in 1981.
In 1983, he received the Asahi Shimbun Award.
1984: Full member of the Japan Crafts Association
2004 Yamaguchi Prefecture Selection Award (Art and Culture Merit)
