●犬筥（いぬばこ）とは…「犬張子」とも「御伽犬」とも呼ばれますが、文字通り、犬をかたどった張子製の箱です。
古来より、犬は災厄から人間を護ってくれるとされ、その姿を作って、魔除けとすることが行われましたが、犬筥も上流の家庭で産室や幼児の枕元に置かれて魔除けとされ、また婚礼の際にも用いられました。
