Oido tea bowl, named "Kizaemon"...A masterpiece that meets all the standards of an Ido tea bowl.
[National Treasure, owned by Kohoan, Daitokuji Temple, Kyoto]
"Kizaemon" is also a Goryeo tea bowl for daily use that was fired on the Korean peninsula during the Joseon Dynasty in the 16th century. The Goryeo tea bowls fired by Korean potters are said to be the best in the world, with their wheel marks, loquat-colored glaze, shape from the large rim to the bamboo joint foot, and the intense scenery of the glaze that has curled into a plum blossom skin shape. They are said to be the best bowls in the world, in line with the concepts of "wabi" and "sabi."
