His work has been highly praised for its outstanding craftsmanship, which can be seen in its refined, intricate and gorgeous painting.
Born in Mie Prefecture in 1942
Graduated from Kyoto Prefecture Potter Vocational Training Institute in 1959
Studied under the first master Zenho (Kamiyama Zenjiro) for 10 years
In 1969, the company became independent as Yamaoka Togaen
Received the title Zensho (Noboru) from his master.
1992-1998 Selected for the Tanko Biennale Tea Ceremony Art Exhibition
1998: Won the Kyoto Mayor's Award at the Kyoto Colored Ceramics Exhibition
2002: Certified as a traditional craftsman of Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki
Vice President of Kyoto Colored Ceramics Cooperative Association
Vice-chairman of the Kiyomizu-yaki Traditional Crafts Association
