The first Gyokudō learned the traditional techniques of Kyoto ware that had been cultivated over a long history, and opened a kiln in Higashiyama, Kyoto at the beginning of the Taisho era. It was in 1953 that he established a kiln in Fushimi-Momoyama.
The following year, he began his career as a potter under his father's guidance.
While assisting with research into Chinese ceramics, he learned a wide range of ceramic techniques using techniques such as celadon, cinnabar, and painted porcelain.
The current owner was born as the third son of the previous owner, and has continued to hone his kiln skills for many years to the present day.

In 1982, he exhibited at the Kyoyaki Five People Exhibition at Izutsuya in Kokura, Kyushu.
1983: Solo exhibition at Daimaru, Kyoto
1988: Awarded at the Kyoyaki and Kiyomizuyaki Exhibition
Solo exhibition at Tamaya in Fukuoka in 1992
