He trained under Master Zenjiro Kamiyama for ten years.
His work has been highly praised for its outstanding craftsmanship, which can be seen in its refined, intricate and gorgeous painting.
Born in Mie Prefecture in 1942. Graduated from Kyoto Prefecture Potter Vocational Training School in 1959. Studied under the first Zenho (Kamiyama Zenjiro) for 10 years. Became independent as Yamaoka Togaen in 1969. Received the name Zensho (Noboru) from his master. 1992-1998. Selected for the Tanko Biennale Tea Ceremony Art Open Exhibition. 1998. Won the Kyoto Mayor's Award at the Kyoto Colored Ceramics Exhibition. 2002. Certified Kyo-yaki/Kiyomizu-yaki Traditional Craftsman. Vice President of the Kyoto Colored Ceramics Cooperative Association. Vice President of Kiyomizu-yaki Traditional Crafts.
