● Oido tea bowl, named "Yuraku"...A masterpiece tea bowl that meets all the requirements of an Ido tea bowl, even among Goryeo tea bowls.
It is renowned as being one of the top five Oido tea bowls, famous as representative of the Sabi-cha style of tea bowls, and bears the inscription "Yuraku" because it was once owned by Oda Nobunaga's younger brother, Urakusai.
This is a truly graceful and elegant large well, with gentle curves that are truly feminine, a subdued reddish loquat glaze, and neat creasing of the feldspar glaze (plum blossom skin) around the edge of the base.
The original poem is in the collection of the Tokyo National Museum.
● What is a Goryeo tea bowl? A tea bowl made in Korea after the town period.
It refers to Oido, Aoido, Koido, Wakiido, Kumagawa (Komogae), Katate, Totoya, Irabo, Kobiki, Omoto Mishima, etc. (Amemorite). A general term for tea ceremony utensils made in the Korean Peninsula, as opposed to Chinese-made "karamono".
Size: Approx. diameter 14.8 x height 8.7 cm
Artist: Maruko Kiln
Box: Wooden box
