[13th Generation Takatori Hassen] Takatori ware Hassengama (Sarayama)
The Takatori families of Tsuzumi and Sarayama have passed down the family tradition of operating as official kilns for the Chikuzen domain to this day.
The techniques unique to Takatori were inherited by Hassen's grandfather, Sashichi (Hasen), in accordance with the last will of Takatori Yasunosuke (Shigenobu), the last official potter of the Kuroda clan, and have since been passed down to his mother, Hassen Komaki, and his father, Shigeo.
Born in 1944
In 1953, he took on the name of the 13th Takatori Hassen.
In 1959, he was nominated as a member of the Fukuoka Prefectural Art Association.
In 1930, he was certified as a traditional craftsman by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
In 1985, he became a judge for the Fukuoka Prefectural Art Exhibition.
1989: Received the Governor's Award for Outstanding Skilled Worker in Fukuoka Prefecture
Received the International Art and Culture Award
Received the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette in the autumn 2005 decorations.
The next generation, the 14th generation, Shinobu Takatori, is currently training.
