What is a Totoya tea bowl? It is also written as Uoya and is a type of Goryeo tea bowl.
The name Totoya is said to have come from the fact that Rikyu discovered it on the shelves of a fish shop in Sakai, or from a tea bowl owned by a Sakai merchant called Totoya.
This is a type of Goryeo tea bowl made in South Gyeongsang Province on the Korean Peninsula in the 16th century, and has an extremely thin glaze that gives it an overall shiny luster.
On the inside, there are traces of the bowls being stacked and fired, and the base is crescent-shaped.
