Born in 1947 in Higashiyama, Kyoto
Graduated from Kyoto Municipal Fushimi Industrial Ceramics Department in 1966
1993: Exhibited at the Contemporary Kyoto Ware and Kiyomizu Ware Exhibition in Paris
In 1994, he was certified as a traditional craftsman of Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki.

[Miru: Umimatsu] pronounced as "Miru"
●It is said that the Chinese characters for miru (sea pine) were chosen because it looks very similar to pine needles. In tea utensils, miru is used as a pattern called mirumon (sea pine). It is also used at tea ceremonies on auspicious occasions.
●They grow upright like pine trees on shallow seabed rocks...
