●Amamoride is a type of Goryeo tea bowl.
This refers to the gray or purple stains on the surface that resemble stains from a leaking roof.
Some pieces have pinholes in the glaze during firing, causing iron and other substances in the base to emit a dull color, while others have dirt seeping in during use, creating mottled patterns.
Common in Kohiki tea bowls
The "Rain Leak" handed down by the Sakai family (Nezu Museum) and the "Rain Leak" handed down by the Matsuura family (Fukuoka Art Museum) are famous as specialties.
● What is a Goryeo tea bowl? It is a type of tea bowl that has been used in the Japanese tea ceremony since the mid-16th century. It is made from everyday utensils produced on the Korean peninsula that were admired by Japanese tea masters and used as tea utensils.
The "Koryo" in Goryeo tea bowls means "coming from Korea," and most of the tea bowls referred to as "Koreo tea bowls" are not products of the Goryeo period, but rather of the Joseon dynasty.
