●小手鞠（こでまり）とは…春に小さな白い花が手毬状に集まって咲く、バラ科シモツケ属の落葉低木です。
1cmに満たない小さな白い花が20個以上集まり、直径3cmほどの「小さな手毬（てまり）」のように見えることから名付けられた。
4月中旬～5月中旬頃、細い枝がしだれるように伸び、白い小花で覆い尽くされます。
