The first Tokuzumi trained under the 4th generation Ebiya Seibei, a master Kyoto ware craftsman from the late Edo period, and later opened a kiln at Gojozaka in Kiyomizu. [3rd generation Nishimura Tokuzumi (real name Tokuichi)] Shisui Kiln Born in Kyoto in 1928, passed away in April 2007. Trained under the 2nd Tokuzumi, Kusube Yaichi, and the 6th Kiyomizu Rokubei.
In 1946, he climbed up Uji Coal Mountain from Gojozaka and built a kiln there.
Received the kiln name "Shisui" from Master Keido Yoshiguchi, 509th head priest of Daitokuji Temple in Murasakino. Certified as a Kiyomizu-yaki traditional craftsman in 1977. Certified as a traditional industry outstanding technician in 1992. "Contemporary Master Craftsman."
Member of the Kyoto Prefecture Association of Artists and Craftsmen Special lecturer at the Kyoto City Industrial Research Institute He mainly produces Shozuisha and Kinran-te pottery. As a special lecturer at the Kyoto City Industrial Research Institute, he has devoted himself to promoting Kyoto ware and nurturing the next generation of pottery.
