Born in 1941 in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture
After graduating from Tamagawa University, he taught pottery at the university as an assistant.
In 1968, he returned to his hometown and began to focus on making tea ware.
In 1977, he studied under his grandfather, Kato Juemon, a prefectural intangible cultural asset.
In 1978, Momoyama Kiln was opened in Taisho-cho, Tajimi City.
In 1997, the coffee shop Momoyama Saryo opened in Tajimi City.
