This proverb is an example of the posture and behavior of beautiful women. The peony, with its flowers blooming at the end of a slender stem, is said to represent a standing woman, the peony, with its flowers blooming on branching horizontally, representing a seated woman, and the lily, with its beautiful appearance as it sways in the wind, represents a woman walking.
