● Persimmon stem (kakinoheta)...It is said that this name comes from the fact that the shape and color of the tea bowl when upside down resembles the stem of a persimmon.
It is said that the name was given by Sen no Rikyu.
The persimmon stem is a type of Goryeo tea bowl, believed to have been fired in the early Joseon period.
It is often mistaken for a Totoya tea bowl, a type of Korean tea bowl.
It was fired on the Korean Peninsula in the late 16th century, but the kiln used is unknown.
The tea bowl is made from a base mixed with iron-rich sand and coated with a thin layer of glaze, giving it a dark brown, slightly rusty surface.

Size: Approx. diameter 13.4 x height 6.7 cm
Artist: Maruko Kiln
Box: Wooden box
