Born in Kyoto in 1948
In 1964, at the age of 15, he started studying porcelain under Miyagawa Kosei.
Trained as a painter for about 38 years
Studied under Hirota Tatsu and Shiomi Jiro
In 2002, the kiln was opened in Hino-no-sato, Kyoto.
In 2003, he established his own kiln and was named Houen.
Certified as a traditional craftsman of Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki in 2010
37th Kinki Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry Director's Award for Meritorious Service in 2015
Received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award at the 39th Kyoyaki and Kiyomizuyaki Exhibition in 2017.
In the same year, he was recognized as a "Kyoto Master Craftsman" by the Kyoto City Traditional Industry Technology Merit Award.
