Born in Yamagata in 1959. Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Sculpture (won the Grand Prize for Graduation Work)
The Kikuchi family has been under the patronage of Mogami Yoshimitsu as the official castellan since 1604 (the 9th year of the Keicho era), and to this day they continue to produce their pottery in harmony under the guidance of their uncle, Nagano Meishi.
He studied under the 14th master and took the name of the 15th master, Kikuchi Masanao, in 1983.
