●What is Ameryū? [Pronunciation] "Ameryu," "Amaryo," "Uryū." Roughly speaking, it is often referred to by these three names.
It is a motif of a "rain dragon," which is said to raise its scroll, rise to the sky and bring rain.
The dragon, along with the phoenix, is an imaginary animal created in ancient China. It is counted as one of the four spirits along with the phoenix, rin, and turtle, and is considered to be the ancestor of all living things.
It is also considered a sacred beast that governs water, and is often used in designs in conjunction with clouds, thunder, and other motifs that represent rain.
In Japan, it is considered an auspicious symbol that represents omnipotence.

He studied under Takahashi Keisuke, a kettle maker living in Yamagata and an artist who inherits the tradition of Oshu Yamagata casting. Born January 19, 1937, from Yamagata Prefecture. Since his first selection in 1973, he has been selected for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition more than 10 times. At the 5th Traditional Crafts Musashino Store, he won the Japan Crafts World Tokyo Branch Award. He has been selected 12 times at the Traditional Crafts Japanese Metalwork Exhibition. In 1982, he was certified as a Japanese traditional craftsman. He is a full member of the Japan Crafts Association.
