●Origin of Nanbu Ironware...The history of ironware in Mizusawa is long, dating back to the end of the Heian period.
It is closely connected to the Hiraizumi culture of the three generations of the Fujiwara clan, who reached the height of their prosperity. It is said that it began when its founder, Fujiwara no Kiyohira, had the fervent wish to build Chusonji Temple and invited metalworkers from Omi Province to create many Buddhist altar implements.
The reason why casting flourished in Mizusawa was because of the high-quality river sand in the Kitakami River basin, the iron sand and clay used for casting from the Kitakami Mountains, and the availability of raw iron from nearby Esashi, Kesen, and Higashiiwai.
Nanbu ironware was the first in Japan to be designated as a "traditional craft," and we deliver the dignity that only the real thing can have, relying on 900 years of tradition.
----------
●This product is made using the manufacturing process for Nambu Ironware green mold iron kettles. It is called green mold because the mold is made from casting sand and is not baked like baked mold iron kettles. It is a masterpiece that combines traditional techniques with modern casting. Green mold is an efficient method of production and is suitable for mass production.
(● What is a baked cast iron kettle? It is a traditional method of making Nambu iron kettle, in which a mold made by pressing a pattern is baked over charcoal.)
●The front and back of a Nanbu iron kettle...When placing iron, the spout should be on the right.
If you compare the patterns, you will notice that the side considered to be the back is more subdued than the front.
The caster's signature is also cast into what is considered the back.

●Care instructions: Wash only the inside of the teapot and the tea strainer thoroughly with lukewarm water or water, and rinse thoroughly.
If you rub the outside with a sponge, the color will come off.
Please rinse only with lukewarm water or water.
To remove any moisture from the outside, press a soft, absorbent cloth against the product.
(Please be careful around the spout, under the lid, and at the base of the handle as these are areas that are prone to rust and moisture buildup.)
----------
●About color fading
When cleaning the teapot (especially when you first start using it), if you rub the teapot with a cloth, the paint may transfer to the cloth.
Tea that drips down the spout may leave stains on the teapot itself or the table, so please wipe them off frequently with a dry cloth.
Please note that paint remaining on fabrics or tables may leave stains even if it is washed off with detergent.
