● A single speck of snow…This is a place of correct mindfulness in zazen samadhi, where all worldly desires and delusions have been eradicated. No evil thoughts can approach here. Delusion and evil are like a flake of snow falling on a red-hot furnace with crimson flames, melting in an instant and disappearing without a trace.
●Snow Covers a Thousand Years of Green (yuki wa sennen no midori wo yoou)…The snow from last night covers up the endless sadness of a thousand years. It looks like nothing.
Even on cold, snowy winter mornings, the pines of this temple do not change their green color, symbolizing the chastity of a gentleman.
● Banzai ryoukumo no kame (Banzai green hairy turtle)…As the green hairy turtle grows old, it develops thread-like green moss on its shell, making it look as if it is wearing a straw raincoat.
Auspicious sign. Words to celebrate longevity.
●Zuikikoudo ni Mitsu (full of auspicious energy)...The auspicious and solemn atmosphere of this fresh year will make you feel energized and uplifted, which will make you feel refreshed.
