●What is a Miyuki shelf? It is a double shelf made of mulberry wood with four pillars, with the top and bottom boards all around and the middle board having a rounded front, large wheels attached to both sides, and the boards that hold the wheels have Tomoe carvings. The upper tier has blinds on three sides and a small shelf with a wainscoting with a hollyhock pattern on the other side.
This shelf was favored by the 14th head of the Urasenke school, Mugensai Sekoso Soshitsu, who was known by his Buddhist name Tantansai.
It was originally called "Okurumadana," but the name was later changed to this.
*Can be used with both hearth and brazier. Can also be used in reverse. Can be used even if the blinds are removed.
