●What is an Araiso Shelf? It is a double shelf made of paulownia wood with four pillars, with a wainscot board with a wave crest pattern fitted on three sides, and a small shelf with legs on the four corners of the base board.
This shelf was favored by the 14th head of the Urasenke school, Mugensai Sekoso Soshitsu, who was known by his Buddhist name Tantansai.
When a water jar with a motif of carp dancing on the waves is placed on it, it creates a "rough sea motif" together with the openwork wave crests, so the "rough sea motif" water jar, which was also favored by Tantansai, is often used.
*Can be used with both ro and furo.
