●What is a Tamatsubaki Shippoudana? It is a double shelf with three pillars made of Tamatsubaki wood, with the top and base boards being oval and the middle shelf being spool-shaped, and a small shelf made of Tamatsubaki wood of the same shape as the middle shelf, which has been lacquered, fitted into the base board.
This shelf was favored by the 15th head of the Urasenke school, Hounsai, and head of the Hanso Soshitsu family.
It got its name from the fact that it is made of camellia wood and the entire shelf resembles a Shippo circle.
*Can be used with both ro and furo.
