●What is a Hosho shelf? It is a small shelf made of mulberry wood with three pillars and an oval top and base board with a fan-shaped, openwork waistboard that has been bent and fitted into it.The base board is made of clamwood and has chamfered edges.
This shelf was favored by the 14th head of the Urasenke school, Mugensai Sekoso Soshitsu, who was known by his Buddhist name Tantansai.
It was popular in 1940 to celebrate the 2,600th anniversary of the founding of the Imperial dynasty.
*Can be used with both hearths and braziers.
