●What is an Orisue-dana?...It is a double shelf made of red cedar and with three bamboo pillars. The top and bottom boards are square with hashibami (edge ​​trimmings), and the edges are covered in pine and decorated with floral moon lacquer. It is a small shelf with a slightly smaller middle board attached in a diamond shape.
This shelf was favored by the 14th head of the Urasenke school, Mugensai Sekoso Soshitsu, who was known by his Buddhist name Tantansai.
Bamboo is placed at the first joint of the facing pillar, the second joint of the guest pillar, and the third joint of the back pillar.
It got its name from the fact that the combination of the square top and bottom boards and the diamond shape of the middle board resembles the shape of a folded orisute used in the Hanagatsu Shichijiki ceremony.
Both hearths and braziers can be used.
