●What is a hisago shelf? It is a small shelf made of cedar wood, with the side panel attached to the kitchen handle carved into a gourd shape and the carved gourd-shaped panel used as the table top. It is supported by a single bamboo pillar placed on the guest side and has a removable base panel.
This shelf was favored by the 14th head of the Urasenke school, Mugensai Sekoso Soshitsu, who was known by his Buddhist name Tantansai.
It is also called a cultural shelf.
The base board is removable, so if you have one you can place a water jar on it, or if you don't, use it as a carrying shelf.
A bamboo peg can be inserted into the kitchen handle, so you can also hang a toilet cover or feather broom.
*Both the brazier and the ro can be used.
Size: Horizontal board: approx. width 32.6 x height 45.2 cm
