●What is a "thread spool open double shelf"? It is a four-pillar double shelf made of paulownia wood, with side panels in the shape of a thread spool attached to the left and right sides and across the space between the top and middle boards, and a small shelf with legs on the four bottom corners.
This shelf was favored by Seisai Keiou Sosa, the 12th head of the Omotesenke school.
It is based on the Mikimachi shelf, but the drawers have been removed and the side panels are made with thread-wrapped openwork.
