●What is a Horai Table? It is a small shelf with four pillars and a true lacquer finish, with the top, middle and base boards all hexagonal tortoiseshell shaped, the pillars are slightly curved, and the base board and pillars have vermilion lines.
This shelf was favored by the 13th head of the Omotesenke school, Sokuchusai Mujin Sosa.
This shelf was favored by Jikuchuusai to commemorate his 60th birthday. The tortoise-shell shaped shelf represents a turtle, and the curved pillars with vermilion lines represent a crane; together these two elements give this shelf its name, which translates to "crane and turtle auspicious occasion."
*Can be used with both ro and furo.
