● Mizusashi shelf (water jar shelf) is a double shelf in the color of urushi wax, with a curved middle board that resembles the shape of water, located slightly higher up, and on both sides of the guest and kitchen area, there are small boards with incense-slit openings above the middle shelf and large boards below it, which was a small shelf favoured by Takeno Joo.
*Both the hearth and the brazier can be used.
It is also called "Joou Mizusashidana."
During the era of daisu and large shelves, shelves for displaying only water jars were popular, and so they were called "mizusashi shelves." Later, mizusashi shelves based on the preferences of Katagiri Sekishu, Kobori Enshu, Itto Soshitsu, and others were created, and the original model, that of Sho'o, came to be known specifically as the "Sho'o mizusashi shelf."
The "Chado Mochizukishu" states, "There is something called Sho'o's Mizujar shelf, which has a wooden base with shelves on all four sides and also a middle shelf. There are tea bowl slots on both sides, above and below, in four places, which are made like the incense shelves on a Shino bag shelf."
