●What is a Kokoudana? It is a double shelf made of paulownia wood with a black lacquer and red nails. The top, middle shelf and base boards are all three feet square, the middle and base boards have hashibami (edge trimmings), and it is a small shelf with small cloud-shaped feet on the four corners of the bottom of the base board.
This shelf was favored by Gengensai Seichu Soshitsu, the 11th head of the Urasenke school.
This shelf was created based on the triple shelf that was favored by Rikyu, but the top and bottom pillars were removed and it was modified to become a double shelf (which Rikyu also favored), hence the name.
There are also "Blue Lacquer Claw Red," "Paulownia Wood Red," and "Ikkan Lacquer."
Both the ro and the furo are used, and the water jar is lowered when it is time to add more water.
Size: Approx. 30.3 x 30.3 x 51.2 cm
Height from top to middle plate: approx. 15.1 cm
Approximately 45.5cm high from middle shelf to base plate
