●What is an Itomaki shelf? It is a double shelf with four pillars made of Ikkan blue lacquer and red nails, and each side of the middle board is carved into a bow shape to create a small shelf in the shape of a spool of thread.
This shelf was favored by Rokurokusai Zuiou Sosa, the 11th head of the Omotesenke school.
It is also called a double shelf for thread winding.
The base is removable so that the water jar can be carried around.
Rokurosai's favorites include an Ikkan-bari blue lacquer nail and red thread-spool shelf with no base board, one made of paulownia wood without hazel, and one made of cedar wood with a base board.
The 12th head of the Omotesenke school, Seisai Keiou Sosa, favors this tea ceremony tea made from cedar wood.
In addition to those made of paulownia wood without a base, Seisai-ko also offers those made of mulberry wood, cedar wood with thread, and Hida lacquer.
