A round table is a small shelf with two pillars and a round top and bottom.
A type of shelf that uses the decorative shelf "taku" introduced from China as a shelf.
*Can be used with both a hearth and a brazier.
There are styles that suit Rikyu's taste and those that suit Sotan's taste.
The Rikyu-style table is made of paulownia wood, with two pillars attached to the inside of the top and base boards, and three low legs on the underside of the base board.
The style that Sotan preferred is a black ikkan-bari single-grain wooden table with two pillars attached to the outside of the top and base boards, a thick base board, and no legs.
Other examples include the cypress base lacquer favored by Sotakusai of the Omotesenke school, the pine wood lacquer favored by Seisai, and the blue lacquer and red nail polish.
The book "Sado Sentei" states, "A round table made of paulownia wood and pine wood. The paulownia is shaped like Rikyu's paulownia, the tamari is made in the style of Takusai's, and the wood is pine."
