A tobacco pipe is a tool that is placed inside a tobacco tray and used to smoke chopped tobacco.
It is usually made by attaching a metal neck and mouthpiece to both ends of a bamboo tube called a rau.
When serving thin tea, a cushion is brought out in front of the main guest along with a tobacco tray with two pipes attached.
Depending on the shape of the tobacco tray, a single tobacco pipe may be added, or it may be hung with the end of the pipe dropped inside.
When smoking, the main customer offers the cigarette to the next customer, then takes a pipe, puts the tobacco from the cigarette holder into the bowl, and smokes it over the fire in the cigarette holder. When he has finished, he drops the butt into the ash blower, takes out a paper and cleans the mouthpiece and the tip.
The next guest follows the main guest's suggestion and fills another pipe with tobacco in the same way, then places the two pipes back on the tobacco tray and passes them on to the third and fourth guests.
Among his favorites are the 7th Omotesenke master Joshinsai's style, the 10th master Kyukosai's style, the 11th master Rokujinsai's style, the 12th master Seisai's style, the 13th master Jokuchusai's style, the 14th master Jimyosai's style, the 10th master Nintokusai's style, the 11th master Genjinsai's style, the 14th master Tanjinsai's style, and the auspicious grass carvings of the 11th master Isshisai of the Mushakojisenke school.
