●What is an ash blower? A ash blower is a device that is placed inside a tobacco tray and used to remove ash remaining in the bowl when you finish smoking a tobacco pipe.
Bamboo is usually used in tea ceremonies; officially, green bamboo with a diameter of 1.56 inches is cut to a height of 4 to 4.5 inches and replaced after each tea ceremony, but white bamboo that has been degreased may also be used.
Also, green bamboo that has already been used is often preserved and used as a farewell gift.
When you use it, rinse it with water and then pour a small amount of water inside.
It is also called "Smoke Pot" and "Togetsuho."
Togeppo is the name of a mountain in Shizuoka City. It is said that the renga poet Socho (1448-1532) opened the Togeppo Shibayaken here, made bamboo crafts using bamboo that he had transplanted himself, and branded ash blowers with the name Togeppo before selling them, which is why the name came to be written as Togeppo but read as ash blower.
