●Sokotori is an ash spoon used to scoop up ashes from a hearth or brazier.
It is also called a lower spoon.
It is a flat copper bowl-shaped object with a right-angled handle that is wrapped in bamboo bark and wound with navy blue linen thread.
The ones for hearths are larger and the ones for braziers are smaller.
Although it is a Mizuya tool, it is used in addition to the Tomoe Handa when requesting charcoal for the surrounding area or furnace.
