A kettle maker from the Sen family
The Onishi family is a Kyoto kettle maker that has been in business for over 400 years since the late Muromachi period.
The fourth head of the family took the name Seiemon, and from the sixth to the ninth, every head of the family has inherited the name Seiemon.
The studio is located in Sanjo Kamanza in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, and the Onishi Seiemon Museum is also located there.
The current head of the family is the 16th generation, Seiemon.
Born in Kyoto as the eldest son of the 15th generation, he graduated from the Department of Metalwork at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Osaka University of Arts.
After his father retired, he took on the name of the 16th Seiemon in 1993.
