●Goto himo is braided using the same braiding techniques that were used for helmet straps during the Sengoku period.
When you tighten it it tightens up nicely, and because it's hand-woven it expands and contracts with your movements.
In 1960, it was designated as Japan's first traditional craft by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
