●What is a Shino bag? In the art of incense, it is a round drawstring bag used to hold incense packets and silver leaf packets, and is said to have been invented by Shino Munenobu.
It was said that tea masters should always carry incense packets and silver leaf packets in a Shino bag.
It is used in the Sen'yū-no-shiki ceremony of the Seven Ceremonies.
The Sen'yū-no-shiki is a ceremony based on the Shaza seat and was devised by the 11th head of the Urasenke school, Gengensai.
The process involves first placing flowers, adding charcoal, and burning incense, followed by strong tea and light tea, followed by the drinking of Kagetsu.

The Shino bags used in the tea ceremony are different in size from those used in the incense ceremony: about 6.4 cm in diameter for tea ceremony, and about 8.8 cm in diameter for incense ceremony.
In the case of incense ceremony, the opening of the bag is tied with a flower knot that changes each month.
January: plum, February: cherry blossom, March: wisteria, April: hollyhock, May: iris, June: lotus, July: morning glory, August: bellflower, September: chrysanthemum, October: autumn leaves, November: daffodil, December: bamboo grass
In the case of the tea ceremony, there is only one way to tie the string, and it is the same as tying a long string.
After the incense has been removed, unlike long cords, the cord is folded and hung on a fastener.
