The first Wazen came to Tokyo from Kutani and built a kiln in Higashiyama, Kyoto.
He moved his kiln to Omuro-Narutaki and, with the permission of Ninna-ji Temple and the Gomon-seki temple, started producing Omuro-yaki pottery, focusing on tea ceremony utensils, which is still in its fourth generation.
