●What is a Shioya kettle? It is one of the shapes of authentic tea ceremony kettles, an Otogozen-style kettle with a ring modeled after Shioya.
It refers to a simple salt-grilling hut built on the seashore that has a salt kiln where seawater is boiled to make salt.
It is a Senso-style pottery with a background pattern of Seigaiha and shells, and the Shioya-style hook is hollow and connects to the kettle. When water boils, steam comes out from a small hole in the eaves, likening it to the smoke from the salt maker where seawater is boiled to make salt.
This is designed so that steam does not come out.
