In 1981, he won the Nitten Member's Award for his Usu Hyo-urushi Screen. In the same year, he became the chairman of the Wajima Lacquer Technique Preservation Society, an organization that preserves important intangible cultural properties.

Born in Yamanaka Onsen, Kaga City in 1936
In 1950, he learned the techniques of turning lacquerware from his father, Koichi.
1962: Selected for the 9th Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, 51st time selected for exhibition
1964: Certified as a regular member of the Japan Crafts Association
In 1988, he produced tea ceremony utensils using an old sal tree hand-planted by Sen no Rikyu, which is preserved at Jukoin Temple in Daitokuji Temple.
In 2000, we were commissioned to create the "Sacred Treasure Box" for the Ise Shrine Relocation Ceremony.
1995: Certified as a holder of important intangible cultural property
In 1999, he received the Purple Ribbon Medal. In the fall of 2004, he was awarded the Medal of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon.
