●A koshiguro kettle is a type of water container made of metal with a spout, a handle, and a lid.
It is used to replenish water in the kettle or water jar placed at the table.
They are made from materials such as karakane, plain copper, wool, and nanryo.
The lower part of the copper is dyed black and smoked over a fire, the upper part is red, and the inside is coated with white solder.
In 1587, on the occasion of the Great Kitano Tea Ceremony, a black-stained kettle that Sen no Rikyu had had made by the first Joketsu was passed down, and this is known as the "Rikyu-style black-stained kettle."
